An extension providing 12 additional classrooms and a flexible ground floor studio space to increase the capacity of Boroughmuir High School from 1,150 to 1,560 was granted on 2 August 2019. Refurbishment of the existing building to provide additional technical classrooms also forms part of the project.
Enabling works to relocate utilities were carried out in early 2020 in advance of a main contractor being appointed in February 2021. Construction of the extension started on site in April 2021 and was originally programmed to be complete by June 2022, however, construction delays have led to the extension opening in April 2023.
Existing classrooms have been refurbished to provide additional technical classrooms.
