Architect’s impression of the new Maybury Primary School

The new Maybury Primary School offers capacity for up to three streams (630 primary pupils and 128-pupil nursery pupils) and its catchment area covers the new housing developments at Cammo and West Craigs. The school is designed as a two-storey, low-energy school, meeting the Passivhaus standard. It features a 2G sports pitch and various internal facilities, including a new Medical Practice, to be used by the wider community.

Construction started spring 2023 and the new school opened January 2025

Nursery Garden

Primary Playground

The grounds at Maybury Primary School have been designed to be natural playgrounds. The plants and trees will take time to establish but the aim is to provide the children with a playground with nature at its heart to promote a love of nature and improve health and wellbeing. Access to the “outdoor classroom” for all classes has been a priority in the design of the school; external stairs allow children in the upper floor of the building to get quick access to learn in the school grounds during their lesson time.

Allotment and Wildlife Garden

Our “kit of parts” for school grounds within our brief for new schools includes spaces for wildlife and spaces for growing food. At Maybury Primary they have a lovely quiet area of the school grounds that has been designed for growing and outdoor learning.
