The Powderhall proposals in Edinburgh are the first of their kind in Scotland. They include an intergenerational, Passivhaus facility which combines an Early Learning and Childcare Centre for 128 children with 27 older person’s independent-living homes above. It is hoped that this new approach to Place Making by City of Edinburgh Council will offer health and wellbeing benefits for the residents, and new learning and social opportunities for children attending the nursery.
The development has now started on the site of the former Powderhall Bowling Green on Broughton Road and is due to complete Spring 2027.
